ASCEND Fitness ("ASCEND," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
Summary: We collect only the data necessary to provide personalized fitness coaching. Your photos are processed locally or via secure AI and are never shared. You can delete your data at any time.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, age, height, weight, and fitness goals.
Fitness Profile: Training experience level, workout frequency preferences, available equipment, and obstacles you face.
Physique Photos: If you choose to use our AI physique analysis feature, you may upload photos. These are used solely for body composition analysis and progress tracking.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
Workout Data: Exercises performed, sets, reps, weights, and workout duration.
Progress Metrics: Strength progression, consistency streaks, and achievement data.
App Usage: Features used, session duration, and interaction patterns (anonymized).
1.3 Health Data (Apple HealthKit)
With your explicit permission, we may access:
Sleep Data: Sleep duration and quality to optimize recovery recommendations.
Step Count: Daily activity levels to understand your overall activity.
Note: We do NOT sell or share your HealthKit data with third parties. This data is used solely to personalize your training recommendations.
1.4 Subscription Information
When you subscribe to ASCEND Pro, our payment processor (RevenueCat) collects:
Subscription status and plan type.
Transaction identifiers (not credit card numbers).
Purchase history within the app.
2. How We Use Your Information
Personalization: Generate customized workout plans based on your goals, experience, and equipment.
AI Analysis: Analyze physique photos to provide body composition insights and track visual progress.
Progress Tracking: Calculate and display your fitness metrics, streaks, and achievements.
Recovery Optimization: Use sleep and activity data to recommend rest days and training intensity.
Service Improvement: Analyze anonymized usage patterns to improve the app experience.
Communications: Send workout reminders and motivational notifications (if enabled).
3. AI and Photo Processing
Your Privacy Matters: Photos used for physique analysis are processed using Google's Gemini AI. Photos are transmitted securely, processed for analysis, and are NOT stored on Google's servers after processing. We do not use your photos to train AI models.
You can use ASCEND without providing photos by manually selecting your body type during onboarding.
4. Data Storage and Security
Cloud Storage: Your data is stored securely on Google Firebase with encryption at rest and in transit.
Authentication: We use Firebase Authentication for secure account management.
Photos: Physique photos are stored in your device and in your private Firebase storage bucket, accessible only to you.
No Data Sales: We never sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Data Sharing
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers: Firebase (data storage), RevenueCat (subscriptions), Google AI (photo analysis)—all bound by data processing agreements.
Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
Safety: To protect the rights, property, or safety of ASCEND, our users, or others.
6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 Access and Portability
You can view your fitness data, workout history, and profile information within the app at any time.
6.2 Correction
You can update your profile information, including height, weight, and goals, through the Profile screen.
6.3 Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data by contacting us at privacy@ascend.fitness. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible.
6.4 HealthKit Permissions
You can revoke HealthKit access at any time through your device's Settings > Privacy > Health > ASCEND.
6.5 Notifications
You can disable push notifications through your device settings or within the app.
7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
Know what personal information we collect and how it is used.
Request deletion of your personal information.
Opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data).
Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

8. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights including:
Right to Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate personal data.
Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your data.
Right to Restrict Processing: Limit how we use your data.
Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured format.
Right to Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Our legal basis for processing your data is: (a) your consent, (b) performance of a contract, or (c) our legitimate interests in providing and improving our services.
9. Data Retention
Active Accounts: We retain your data while your account is active.
Deleted Accounts: Data is permanently deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
Subscription Records: Transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years for legal and tax purposes.
10. Children's Privacy
ASCEND is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Effective Date." Your continued use of ASCEND after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
